The End is Here!
That’s a (bad) clickbait title if I’ve ever seen one. This is about my Akko Switch Review project/video.
Expectations vs Reality
Earlier in June, I set out to do a little video project reviewing mechanical switches (opens in a new tab).
I thought this would take a week, maybe two at most.
Oh how naive I was.
It ended up taking almost 3 months to complete, from early June to late August. In part because more important stuff came up, but mostly because of my inexperience and inability to accurately predict the time it would take to shoot, edit and release a video.
Some parts were definitely hard to push through. I remember having the video about 80% edited, taking a few days break and dreading going back to it. But I did anyway. It was hard and slow at first, but once I got going I went at it for 2 or 3 days straight and finished it.
I talk more in-depth about this on the project page.
What I think I learned and what I might have maybe actually learned
Well, that’s a mouthfull. Any ways.
I had fun with this project. It was good to get out of the programming/IT space for a bit and do something a bit more creative and tactile (pun not intended - or is it? I honestly don’t know).
Testing my resolve and my skills in a completely different area was worth it on its own.
Doing this also made me realize that I do enjoy video editing, contrary to what I assumed.
If there’s one thing I take away from this project is: try new things. Challenge yourself into doing something you previously thought impossible/hard to get into. You’ll be amazed at how much you can do by just trying.
I know that sounds really cliché. But it’s cliché for a reason.
Check out the finished video (opens in a new tab) and let me know your thoughts!
See you on the next one!
